Important Notice to both the Public and our Members! The Gawler Community Gallery will closed from the 21st December 2015 and will be re-opening on January 7th 2016.

The Christmas raffle has again been a wonderful success, many thanks to the girls who put the fabulous prizes together, which included for the first time, a book buyers prize.

As you can see here the prizes are quite substantial.

On display are also a variety of items you will find in out shop, everything from paintings, jewellery, pottery, sculpture, textiles, the odd candle or two and so very much more.

This is a colaboration of work by our Members, (Artists) of their 'Favourite Recipes' and Photographs of their wonderful 'Art Work' have been inserted into the page that their recipe is displayed on. 
This would make a wonderful gift for anyone for Christmas, Birthday or Other. There is a limited supply so please phone in with your order, and get into the gallery quickly so as not to miss out on your copy before Christmas. As time is limited now and there cannot be a second print run until the New Year.  (Apologies, pictures are currently unavailable, I was sent some but cannot use them.)

Opening Speeches

Until the 1st of November there are the following Exhibitions running at The Gawler Community Gallery.

This is a first for Mother and Daughter, putting together a shared exhibition at the Gawler Community Gallery. Originally from the USA, they are now local, from Sampson Flat. (and yes they were affected by the fires last summer).

They will exhibit paintings in a variety of mediums and styles, covering several themes.

There will be lovely animals in Charcoal, flowers in Watercolour and more.

Art runs in the family, as along with her Mother, Melinda’s Grandmother and an Aunt are also artists. We wish them well as we do all our participating artists.

Again we welcome Textile Artist, Yvonne Jaunay from ‘Murray Bridge’.

Her exhibition titled "Cloth, Paper +" is in the “Red Hen” room at the Gallery, this time her work will include felting, silk printing, dye-ing, some prints, paper items and Jewelry relating to the title. Such talent and diversity needs to be seen. Yvonne has studied these mediums, at Marden College, and others in the Adelaide area, as well as interstate.

The Textplorer group

'Texplorers' is a group of ten Textile Artists from in and around Gawler, they present “Out of the Blue”, showing a variety of pieces resulting from a day of' Indigo dye-ing of fabric and threads', using many time-honoured techniques.

They have produced very interesting patterns and designs. There are wall-hangings, canvasses, scarves, cushions, cards, covered journals and much more, all following the ”blue” theme.

Local artist Clue, is celebrating 10 years of exhibiting at the ‘Gawler Community Gallery’.

Carol Clue 

 This latest exhibition of hers titled ‘Salmagundi’, aptly describes her versatility in the Arts, as it means ‘A medley of anything. 

She will present several works in various art mediums with a percentage of sales being donated to Carol’s favourite charity the ‘RFDS’ - ‘Royal Flying Doctor Service’. 

Congratulations Carol on 10 years supporting the arts at the Gawler Community Gallery.

Anzac Day

Gallery Update

There will be a lot of Commemorative Services throughout Australia, so on behalf of all our Members and Committee I would like to take the time to say-                        

     'Lest We Forget' 

     and Thank you 

       to anyone who has served our country 

                                 in times of war.

This ANZAC day the gallery will NOT be open in the morning, so as to Honor ALL our Soldiers, Medical Services, and Animals who have fought in ALL wars during the last 100 years. 

The Gallery will re-open at 1.pm on ANZAC Day and Close at 4.pm

Shop & Member News

We have extended our lovely SHOP, 

Into the 'Red Hen' room downstairs, which means the shop now includes both the Left and Right hand rooms as you enter the Gallery.
Why not come in and check out our wonderful shop.  See our Shop page for photos and updates.

Members may put extra work in now and it can be left to be rotated on an as needs basis. 

 All we ask you to do is help by keeping your consignment books up to date and do a regular stock take as we now have around 70 people with stock in the shop. (Ask LAURA WRIGHT  the Shop Co-0rdinator for more details.)  

REMEMBER TO PAY YOUR SUBS!!!   THEY WERE DUE JANUARY 1ST.

Please take the time to  become aquanted with the new Policy changes regarding membership.See the  MEMBERSHIP PAGE as there will be a small fine if you delay your renewals beyond the beginning of March.    This is to cover Extra administration required to process them.

NEW MEMBER CATEGORY -

The Committee has added a new category- 

We now have JUNIOR MEMBER - AGE under 18 years.  $5.00 year.  Gallery Room Hire  is the same as for adults, as it is already discounted.   

We will have a special area above the Cards, in the Hallway for Junior work that is unframed,   and will use a hessian hanging over that area, as we did for the Junior open exhibition last year.

DAY SHEETS

have been updated and now consist of individual days, (Thurs' Fri' Sat', and Sun')

Little jobs were added on each one for all of us.  It is working very well, and I am sure it makes the Shop Coordinators job a whole lot easier.  Thanks Colleen, brilliant idea.

RAFFLES

We will be running a Mother's Day Raffle again this year, along with a Father's Day and Christmas one. We are asking our members to be generous once again and donate items suitable to be included in any of these.
Here are a few ideas - books, perfume, soap, candles, jewellery, bags, Movie Tickets, Chocolate perhaps, little tools, nail polish, wallet-men or woman's, scarves, hats any other great ideas.

Why not break away from the mass produced and impersonal gifts of the big retail stores this Christmas and buy your family and friends more unique, handmade cards and gifts from the Gawler Community Gallery.

We've extended our gift shop to fill the entire ground floor of the gallery and specifically encouraged our members to bring in Christmas themed cards and artworks to decorate your home and to spread the greetings of the season.

Artist Laura Wright has even allowed us to exhibit her spectacular Christmas Tree dress complete with fairy lights. Worth a visit to the gallery just to experience in person.

All our members are selling their works at very affordable prices so why not come in and start your Christmas shopping at the gallery.
